'To be' é um dos tempos verbais mais importantes em Inglês, vale a pena relembrar:
to be = ser ou estar
Presente (present)
Afirmativa (positive)
I am (I'm)
he is (he's)
she is (she's)
it is (it's)
we are (we're)
you are (you're)
they are (they're)
Negativa (negative)
I am not (I'm not)
he is not (he's not ou he isn't)
she is not (she's not ou she isn't)

they are not (they're not ou they aren't)
perguntas (questions)
Am I?
Is he?
Is she?
Is it?
Are we?
Are you?
Are they?
Notem que existe a forma por extenso (I am) e a contração (I'm not). Algumas vezes podemos fazer a contração de duas formas (he's not ou he isn't).
Exemplos:
I'm 30 years old. ou I am 30 years old. (Eu tenho 30 anos)
I'm an actor. ou I am an actor. (Eu sou ator)
It's hot. It isn't cold. (Está calor. Não está frio)
My shoes are very dirty. (Meus sapatos estão muito sujos)
Those people aren't Brazilian. They're Japanese. (Aquelas pessoas não são brasileiras. Elas são japonesas)
Are you tired? (Você está cansado?)
Am I late? (Estou atrasado?)
Is he right? (Ele está certo?)
